The following list is a guide to the type of clothes required for the week of adventure activities. In poor weather conditions the outdoor activities will continue, therefore it is important to bring warm and waterproof clothing. Please remember that despite it being included in previous years this year you will need to PROVIDE YOUR OWN BEDDING
Old Clothing:
It is worth remembering that the programme involves outdoor activities and that clothes and shoes will get very dirty. Please be aware that expensive items of clothing may get dirty or damaged so are best left at home! Old, casual and easily washable clothes are recommended. Jeans are impractical as they provide no warmth when wet and are difficult to dry. All essential activity and safety equipment is provided but children need to bring their own clothing, footwear, wash bags and towels.
Mobile Phones and Valuables:
Mobile phones are not allowed and are strongly discouraged by the centre as are other valuable items which might get lost, stolen or damaged. If a smart phone (or tablet) is going to be taken so that it functions as a camera, music player or for games children will be required to show it to staff (MR Cox or MR Wilson) so that we can ensure the sim cards has been removed.
Deodorants
It is advised that children bring roll on deodorants rather than aerosol deodorants as these often set off the fire alarms and can be hazardous. Also aerosol's in a small confined space, such as chalets, can be damaging to health, especially for any potential asthma sufferers.
Luggage
Please remember that the luggage space on the coach and at the centre, is sometimes restricted and, therefore, each child should not bring more than ONE suitcase OR holdall (NOT BOTH) and a small bag for hand luggage.
The Basics
Plenty of changes of socks and underwear (N.B. For some activities, socks that trousers can be tucked into are essential. For this reason, it is better to have ankle or long socks, rather than trainer socks for the week).
Night clothes
2 Towels
Toiletries (roll-on deodorants please, rather than spray)
Hairbands (long hair should be tied back for all activities)
Clothes for daytime activities
2 pairs of long trousers/track suit or jogging bottoms (N.B. Denim jeans are not suitable for many of the activities)
Several T shirts
2 Long sleeved rugby-type shirts – a lot of activities require arms to be covered.
Shorts (if warm weather is forecast, but these are in addition to long trousers which are essential to many activities).
1/2 jumpers or sweatshirts (hooded tops are not advisable as children will be asked to tuck the hoods in on many of the activities) - Even if the weather is hot in the day, it could turn cold during outdoor evening activities.
Waterproof jacket
Footwear
Outdoor trainers and/or waterproof hiking-type shoes (these will get very muddy and/or wet, so 2 pairs to provide a change).
Indoor trainers/plimsolls (for indoor activities)
Boots that go up the leg are not permitted to be worn at any time
Slippers or indoor footwear (optional).
Toiletries
2 towels and a Toilet bag that includes: flannel, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hairbrush etc
Essential Items
sun screen lotion
A sleeping bag or covered duvet, and a pillow (a sheet will be needed if bringing a duvet as the mattresses are waterproof and would be uncomfortable without some form of covering.
water bottle (drinks are available from machines but are very costly and can only be purchased at certain times - a water bottle is recommended for all activities)
Other useful items
Torch
Pen and paper
Small bag or rucksack
Book or magazine for bedtime reading
Sun screen lotion (if the weather has warmed up by then!)
Water bottle (drinks are available from machines but are very costly and can only be purchased at certain times - we strongly advise the carrying of a water bottle for all activities)
